Goodbye

Kognat founded itself in early 2018 with a hope of changing the world with machine learning to automate a number of mundane tasks within the media and entertainment sector.

While we have had limited success in reaching some of these goals, the financial reality is there is more to running a fee for service software company than a dream and ambition.

The commercial reality is that Kognat cannot afford to meet expenses in May 2024 so rather than expending effort in gaining more funds and additional sales, I, Sam Hodge, have decided to fold the company rather than deliver a substandard service to my customers.

This has been a difficult decision to make and perhaps there could have been things that would have prevented this outcome, but a lot of the funding for this venture has been created out of my discretionary time which is now occupied in a senior full time role as a machine learning software engineer in academia.

If the lack of the OpenFX Rotobot Plugin leaves a hole in your toolset, I am sorry for this, I can help out as a paid consultant to remedy this situation, separate from my role as a Director of Kognat.

The idea of selling the intellectual property created by Kognat Pty Ltd, has played on my mind, but this is the opposite of my needs, I need more time, not more funds, selling the IP will take considerable time and funds and is not my first preference.
